Roundtable: Improving Publication Planning: Bridging Standard Approaches with an Innovative, Proven Framework 3:55 - 4:40 pm EST To maximize the impact of scientific publications, we need judicious planning, prioritization, and effective dissemination. However, while competitive pressures and digital communications have advanced rapidly, our traditional publication planning processes haven’t evolved to keep pace with these advancements and cannot meet the expectations of healthcare professionals. How can we close this gap? Adopting a modern, innovative approach is necessary for Medical Affairs professionals to make the best decisions for their publication plans.
The Publication Extenders Industry Working Group, composed of Global Publication Directors at small, medium, and large pharmaceutical companies and MedComms Experts, has collaborated to improve publication planning processes. They aim to integrate publication extenders—short-form, visually enhanced, and digitally optimized content—into the planning process. This integration is designed to enhance communication of key findings, drive engagement, and align with modern omnichannel strategies, ultimately supporting the organizational objectives. As a result of these efforts, a Publication Planning Framework has been developed to empower Medical Affairs professionals to plan effectively and to demonstrate strategic value within their organizations.
During this roundtable, participants will discuss the current state of industry practices in publication planning, highlighting common challenges such as the lack of a uniform strategic approach. They will explore the importance of standardizing publication planning practices and incorporating a wide range of digital omnichannel tactics, such as publication extenders, early in the process. Participants will gain insights into refining their approaches and aligning with industry best practices through a proven framework designed by Medical Affairs professionals for Medical Affairs professionals.
This session offers a crucial opportunity for publication leaders to elevate their strategies and drive meaningful impact through their scientific publications.
